  • Icarus’ Revenge

Photo by Jen Theodore on Unsplash It was a lovely house filled with short clips Of innocent cartoon shows But in the night it was flooded by the young animals that wore glow in dark paint On their faces, bodies, and torn up clothes They danced around the house as if it was raining down flashing lights Yet in a small dark corner, where the chaos didn’t hit There was us, the total of two misfits Yeah We weren’t the only ones that thought of us that way when everything finally slowed down into a small ripple of sounds her teeth finally graze those lips Soon she took my hand, she lead us to the doorway We were young and full of sin I was somehow too drunk to understand Her movements brighten the room alone she got close and I could smell her warm perfume on my clean skin As we leaned forward she reaches past my heart grabbing towards my back Clipping my wings and telling me “I won’t feel a thing“ I hold my tongue as I felt the weight on my shoulders finally give out Then she ran from everything, leaving me in a dark room in the ocean of people festering my house little by little She looked me in the eyes expecting a chase A hunt A vengeful angel that she read about in bibles Instead I let her go I’ve given all I got I turned away into the abyss Because nothing was worth the pain I thought I made the right choice that I didn't need it Instead I’ll spend most night awake wide awake and shaking Smoldering my face with cigarettes and cigars learning I'm beyond scarred Showering in wine and champagne wishing I can feel the wind in my skin Hoping the moonshine will take me away Bringing me back to this small household again But no instead I became those silent cartoon show on my cracked television screen I've become one of those wacky scenes where I am swimming in the sea of strangers Circling around me as they take bites Making me spill out all of my bloody guts for all of them to see It wasn’t till the alcohol finally settled in and sharpen my teeth turned my eyes into a menacing mess The ashes darken me to a shadow, a former image I grab for the paint and in hopes to keep my color alive But this is where I finally dip cocaine to impress every one of those creatures in my ruined forsaken house for a single moment I decided to strike that match to explode and destroy everything on this god given earth. I don’t care if I lose my mind anymore Because it didn’t matter where I went or where I go I will always drown now for this yet I’m not afraid to step in the fire where I can’t see the light

  • The Pinnacles of Our Generation

9 to 5 with low wages Earth decaying We see wars and shootings everyday when we were young We were promised clean energy Cars hovering, lights brighter with colors when we celebrate Instead it locked within the chains of papers and metal Even with the highest degree, I wont be enough Only the very top of the crop make it and even they suffer The Genius burn like stars and drown themselves out of the spot Only to tell the next one "It's not worth it" The Artists starve while sell their art for free for likes and comments The Dashers are out of gas yet still run to get a quick buck Content is pouring with a little bit of everything Everyone is crowding around to see what happens to the humans Media is collecting coins and sharing the pennies The world is turning slowly with a small breeze because there is only machines making connections Money is in stocks and NFTs burning up like the sun It's no longer in the streets near the car washes Air and water is soon to be on sale once the last tree falls Creation is priced and youth are canon fodder But What will happen to the people when the paper and metal is gone? How many hearts have to fall for a solution? Who would care? Photo by Gabriel on Unsplash

  • Pandora's Hospitality

Within the sea There was a chest a vault underneath I venture into the ruins of a castle Made from clay and poor wooden floorboards I see it there, it taunts me With tape surrounding it, saying it's a danger yet I fear nothing anymore for I am lost and tore I rip away the vanity, the sins webbing it all together the weather changed it was a warning, I was going to fail but I prevail to unleash years of pain onto me It thunders as it opens it cracks the skies, it makes me go blind I forgot what was inside It was first a heavenly spirit Told me I was something of a wonder she showed me clouds up above then it rains blood, heads, and guts She told me "I wasn't enough" I held her as much as she stabbed me She melted in my arms I couldn't save what was unhappy I walked away finding a lake in the pale sun The mist came out of the box A mermaid told me I was a fox She was popular yet I was mysterious surrounding her was unknown sharks I had demons who know I'm something lost but I forgot She told me "I am fine, don't worry where I am" as blood filled the waters I dived trying to save someone's daughter But like before I faltered I couldn't alter the dangers around her So they followed me, haunt me in my dreams The sun let down, it was sunset I was cold, gone, and left behind from everything inside She came to me in a chariot She told me "I wasn't broken yet" Sang me songs, told me I belong somewhere somehow Profound by the stories She cries she worries, every clock she checks if I'm in the hour Soon she gave in, she showered Moving a blade around her skin Telling me "When does it end?" I lost my powers, I'm something you shouldn't worry I held hands as she bled out of my tales Then last, night came I look to the stars Then she descended upon me telling me "it's your fault, that they died, you tired" Then she holds me, brings me back to life just a bit longer Telling me my lights are there and I'm right here Yet she is fleeting and I'm dying surviving under the same dark skies she hasn't died one of the only things keeping me alive as we talked through the night as if nothing can keep us down Photo by Valentin Müller Hashtags: #poetry #poet #poem
